Springtime Indoor Concert with Ernie Whisperholler, joined by special guests!
Enjoy a night of music with us as Whisperholler shares a lifetime of original music influenced by folk, blues, and old time with a sometimes witty, sometimes profound flow of lyrical creativity. For over fifty years Ernie Hansche, AKA Whisperholler has been writing songs and tunes inspired by his experiences as a handyman, laborer, landscaper, carpenter, dairy farm hand, Wilderness guide and father. Observing Nature and seeking spiritual and life answers has led him to write songs from the sacred to the profane and back again. A Whisperholler show promises to include footstomping anthems, call and response, introspective reverie; songs spanning the spectrum from raunchy to reverent.
Ernie Whisperholler will be joined by a few friends to color in between the broad musical lines sketched by this storytelling, understated sage. The palette Ernie chooses from include many stringed instruments including banjo, guitar, mandola, bouzouki, ukulele, and maybe harmonica and spoons. You’ll be surprised to hear so many songs you’ve never heard before that feel like old standards from the past two centuries with a fresh flavor.
Mr. Whisperholler started playing the guitar in 1970. As soon as he picked it up, he began writing songs, because for him it felt easier to write his own songs than it was to learn someone else’s. Fortunately, none of his earliest songs will be included in this show as they sometimes caused a mass exodus of anything with ears. With practice Ernie became a pretty decent prolific songwriter, scribbling ideas during work breaks on paper towels, sheetrock and stray pieces of wood. These rambling thoughts have resulted in a sizable catalogue of classic americana music. Ernie also has penned many jaw dropping instrumentals. Some of these will be included in this show as well.
